ABOUT THE ART AND ARTIST
Music was
my first creative expression. It gave me
years of
expressional freedom and joy –it has also led me into trouble
a time or two.
Other musicians will attest to the healing powers of
personal expression and also
the realm of frustration it can lock you into.
I picked up
the camera a couple of years ago – a big fat digital monster.
Talk about frustration, tiny print and a bunch of buttons,
bells and whistles---
not what you would call musician friendly. I had a Kodak sometime in the 80’s.
You know—the little black square plastic 12-shot film. Loading it with film was
the hardest thing – but here I am at 42, not a technical guy
at all, looking for an
alternative outlet to music and the places it led me
to. While all this was going on
I was also finding another kind of alternative, one that
made expression a
calming experience – an expression of the soul through my
friend and savior,
Jesus. Now,” trust me a moment” is all He asked of me and
that moment turned
into eternity. Maybe
you are asking what does Christ and a camera have to do
with each other? I
hope, just maybe, it will be evident in at least one of my
pictures.
REMEMBER -- I
didn’t go to school to be a photographer
---I went to
Sears…..and I didn’t choose what I would take a picture
of…Jesus did. Jesus
knew I was just me….waiting to happen.
